In deep ocean, we don’t look back The unknown coming, and that’s where we’re at The future fiction, our lives are past You keep me going, and we don’t look back The world in motion, my hand to grab The tide is coming, but it’s not that bad Think of all we’ve been through, leave it in the past You keep me going, we don’t look back In the deep, deep deep, ocean Don’t look back Is love devotion? Cause I’m down for that And if your heart’s broken, I’ve got your back Cause we’re friends forever, but nothing lasts We’re in deep ocean, and I won’t look back In the deep, deep deep, ocean Don't look back

Burning Up 04:56
Put me in the corner And drop across my way One foot on the pedal And the other in the grave A storm inside a kettle I wasn’t man enough The score was never settled And we’re running out on love And I hope you’ve got something A prayer before the slaughter Something that can make you clean It’s the calm before the storm And the knife beneath the water Something that can set you free And I know that you are burning up Call up the Destroyer Put a good word in for me Of pith and paranoia Love and jealousy So tie me to the oven The ghost in the machine A barefoot younger brother But I’m running out of heat And I hope you’ve got something A prayer before the slaughter Something that can make you clean It’s the calm before the storm And the knife beneath the water Something that can set you free And I know that you are burning up (You got a hold on me)

FHS Punks 03:42
Here we come up to the end of the road Two small-town punks staring down the unknown This town is crazy and it fucks with my soul Now school is over and I’m ready to go Two hands are touching but I’m standing alone And from a distance, I can’t tell where to go There’s no position that could make us un-whole And no condition that can fuck with your soul Hey, yeah, thrill me tonight I’m on fire from that look in your eyes Oh, yeah, burn through the skies Sometimes it feels so good I can’t believe we’re alive Here we come unto the end of the road Of thirteen years trying to break out of the mould If you’re lucky maybe you can leave with your soul Just the other day, it was me and you against the world Hey, yeah, thrill me tonight I’m on fire from that look in your eyes Oh, yeah, burn through the skies Sometimes it feels so good I can’t believe we’re alive Let the good times roll

about

Montréal indie rockers Karma Glider’s Future Fiction EP (July 7th, 2023 via Mothland) reflects on friendship, finding a spiritual path in the face of the unknown, and the importance of being carried by – and carrying – your loved ones. To convey their all-loving ethos, Susil Sharma (ex-Heat) and co have fuzzed-out guitars roaring to an ever-veering rhythm section, the sum amplified by heavy, yet highly soothing arrangements that see the outfit engage with brute mechanics and cerebral processing. Employing raw materials from Britpop or 90s alternative as well as hip-hop-inspired sampling methods, the outfit crafts uplifting tracks infused with a low-key punk attitude.

Karma Glider’s debut release was printed by co-producers Adrien Popovich and Joseph Donovan at Mountain City Studios, the pair known for their involvement in projects such as Sam Roberts Band, Tricky Woo and The Dears. Sharma handles vocals, guitar, loops and sampling duties on the 5-track collection that also features astute musicianship from bassist Jean-Philippe Bourgeois (Adam Strangler, Fefe Dobson) and drummer Jean-Philippe Godbout (Laurence-Anne, Gazoline) as well as guest appearances from new bandmate Charlie Neufeld (Heat, Reversing Falls), vocalist Cam Maclean and keyboardist Edwin de Goeij (U.S. Girls, Martha Wainwright). The resulting 19 minutes of new wave-tinged motorik rock & roll should strike a chord with fans of Parquet Courts, Alvvays, Diiv, Primal Scream or The Strokes.

about

Karma Glider Montreal, Québec

Karma Glider (Montréal, QC) – the new project from Heat’s frontman, Susil Sharma – proposes a modern strand of indie rock, punctuated by elements from shoegaze and post-punk. Cavernous vocal melodies, glittering guitar parts, corrugated synthesizer motifs and booming rhythmic influx are layered atop elegantly scattered samples informed by hip-hop, from which the artist draws deep inspiration. ... more
